Arrow Key Bindings

I really love this UI, and want to use it, but I'm having problems with the arrow key bindings.  I use a gamepad to play (got it just for Oblivion- moving with the mouse and keyboard was too awkward for me).  I've mapped the arrow keys to the controller so I can navigate menus.  Unfortunately, the built in bindings screw everything up.  I've tried to go into the xml files and fix it, but, to be honest, I don't really know what I'm doing.  Is there an easy way to revert the arrow keys for the pop up menus and inventory screen back to normal?  Failing that, is there a hard way?

As a quick example, on the newer inventory screen, everything works pretty normal until you click on the 1st inventory tab.  At that point you can move the arrows through the list infinity off the screen.  Also, as soon as you go to this tab, you cant use the right and left arrow keys to cycle through to the other tabs.

On the old inventory screen the up key only takes you to the first item in the list, and down only to the last.

On the pop up menus, When there is more than 2 options (Quit game for example) you can only access the first two buttons.

Mouse + keyboard is soo much better!

It seems I'm in the minority with my dislike of the mouse turning.  I'd be happy if I could just use the keyboard to turn even.  It's a great game, but the controls have got to be the most awkward ever!  Or perhaps I'm awkward since it seems like most people can work it just fine.  Either way...thanks!

I realize this is a really old post but I am experiencing the same problems as the OP.

I would really like to use my gamepad since Oblivion looks so much nicer on my HDTV, but I would also like to us your great UI.

If you ever did look into this and found a solution could you please post it here?

Okay.  Thank you for the response!  I will keep my eye on this thread.

As the first post mentioned we could try to fix it ourselfs (just a temporary hotfix of sorts) if we knew which xml file to edit.  If you could point me in the right direction maybe I could try.  If you think it is way beyond that just let me know and I will wait till you find some time to look yourself.
